Performance Evaluation System

The Online Performance Evaluation System provides a simplified method of evaluating work performance  that allows management to  quickly discover performance weaknesses and swiftly provide corrective measures. It uses the following instruments:

  • Performance Evaluation of Teachers by Students

The procedure starts with the Dean who randomly selects student-evaluators preferably from a blocked class. This ensures that student–evaluators will have the same teachers in their courses. The sample size of the student-evaluators should allow for statistical validity, e.g., t-test. The student-evaluators will evaluate all their common teachers in all their courses at the same time by encoding their responses directly to computers.

  • Performance Evaluation of Teachers by Superiors

The same evaluation instrument used by Performance Evaluation of Teachers by Students will be used by the superior in evaluating the performance of his teachers. Later, it will be important to compare the evaluation of the superior viz a viz the evaluation of the students, to ensure the validity and consistency of the assessment process. It is also important because it will clarify perceptions that may or may not differ from the two point-of-views, i.e., the superior and the students.

  • Performance Evaluation of Staff by Superiors

This uses an evaluation instrument appropriate to the job specifications and requirements of non-teaching personnel. The superior evaluates the performance of the non-teaching personnel.

  • Performance Evaluation of Superiors by Subordinates

The desired managerial character, behaviors and capabilities of the Superior is evaluated by his subordinates.  The evaluation instrument allows the generation of a tabular format showing the evaluation of all or the randomly selected subordinates. The random selection of evaluators is done by the superior’s superior.

  • Character Evaluation  by Peers

The concerned teacher, staff or superior is evaluated by his peers in regards desired character, behavior and capabilities. The evaluation instrument allows the generation of a tabular format showing the evaluation of all or the randomly selected peers. The random selection of evaluators is done by the superior.

The rating of all evaluation instruments have been simplified to a 3-point scale which allows the evaluator to easily relate his rating to observed behaviors, as follows:

  • Rank 1 (Not Evident) if the behavior is not observed
  • Rank 2 (Sometimes Evident)  if  the  behavior is not consistently observed
  • Rank 3 (Always Evident) if the behavior is observed consistently.
